What is HWID locking and how do I reset it if I swap PC parts?

Guide2 min read
In short
  • Swapped a part? The launcher carries your licence over to the updated PC on its own.
  • New PC? Reset the HWID yourself in Dashboard › Purchases.
  • How many resets you get depends on the length of your key. The page shows what is left.

Reset your HWID

  1. Open Dashboard › Purchases. Pick the licence you want to move.
  2. Check your resets. The page shows how many you have left and when the next one is due.
  3. Press the reset button. Then start the launcher on the new PC and sign in.

How many resets you get

Part swaps and new-PC resets count against the same allowance, which is set by your plan.

30-day keys:
1 reset every 30 days.
90-day keys:
2 resets every 90 days.
Yearly keys:
3 resets a year.
Lifetime keys:
5 resets a year.

1-day and 7-day keys have no self-serve resets. A reset comes back once it is older than the period above, and two resets are at least 24 hours apart.

Out of resets

Request one from the same page. The team handles requests from Dashboard › Purchases. If you cannot find your licence there, open a ticket.
